As I wind down the completion of my first day outside the womb, I cannot even begin to tell you more about myself without diving a little deeper into the code of my DNA. I know it’s not a cool RSS feed to tweet about the Gen X parental units, especially from this brand new Gen Alpha member. However, I come from extraordinary stock and you have got to meet the kin to understand what I’ve been born into.
My Daddy says when he married my mother Karen, he jumped three levels higher than he could possible reach in the food chain. As a high school valedictorian and a perfect 4.0 college GPA, Mommy achieved a bachelors and a masters degree in Education in only five years. She is a teacher extraordinaire, creative scrapbooker, avid reader and a great Mommy! That said, we lead purposeful, well organized, planned lives that center around…education and fulfilling our God given purpose!
My dad is the ADD creator, inventor, writer, optimistic businessman of the family. He made C’s in high school, flunked out of college, but pushes the envelope through trial and error business success. He values education above everything, but tends to lean toward experiencing life and becoming a specialist “in a few great things vs being good in many things.” He seizes the moment and routinely takes big risks for big rewards. Daddy values time and is overly concerned about fulfilling dreams, destinies, and our life’s callings.
Together this parenting team takes parenting “to a WNL (whole ‘nother level)” with calculated focus to make us kids: healthy, wealthy and wise (their parenting mantra). As the third child with parents in their 40s and THIS kind of background, you can see I can expect more structure than the typical easy going, “get-away-with-murder last-child-syndrome.”
So that said my second full day on earth should be no surprise… My parents started the feeding, burping, cuddling and sleeping routine. They calculate and think like the well oiled parental units they are. After checking their schedules, reviewing their notes, Daddy left Mommy alone tonight, while he gather my brother and sister from our good friends the Lavins. I have no doubt that he will start the school routine and have them in bed by 8p.
As for Mommy and me, we are growing, resting and having fun in my Chapter 1 of the “Campos Family” adventure!
