03/13/10 My Old Man is 40!

March 13, 2010

My life is still pretty simple right now, which is more than I can say for my old man. Today he turns the big 4 0! So having a conversation with my siblings and mommy, we decided to take him out to celebrate this past Thursday. Besides, I was itching to go visit someplace else besides the hospital, doctor’s office and our home.

03/09/10 It’s the Schedule Baby!

March 9, 2010

As I told you before (02/28/10 Pretty, Perfect, Planning, Parents), I have some overly educated parents. As the third child, I reap the benefits of parents who have done this before. My padres have taken more classes and read more books on parenting then perhaps anything else. That said, it should come as no surprise that I am now on a very structured scheduled. From where I sit, I don’t know if this is good advice or not, but it is the life I lead now.

03/08/10 10 Hospital Tips for the Daddy To Be Part 2

March 8, 2010

Finally, I leave you with the hardest tip of all. It is absolutely paramount that you Daddy, take super care of Mommy. This takes precedence above your new baby, friends or even family. This will be a momentary stress point in your life. Take extra, extra care of mommy doing your very best to wait on her hand and foot. Depending on whether she had a c-section or not, stress of baby feeding or not, you need to pull yourself up by the boot straps and jump into overdrive with the Mommy focus. As the saying goes, “If Momma isn’t happy, nobody is happy!” Proper Mommy rest reduces postpartum and makes her recovery faster. As with most things you’ll learn about parenting—it’s not about you!

03/06/10 10 Hospital Tips for the Daddy To Be Part 1

March 6, 2010

My dad guest blogs… Having completed the first week of my son Daniel’s life, it is the perfect time to reflect on a few nuggets of wisdom I wish I had known seven days ago before I experienced the hospital gig. Now most birthing mothers do a very good job of packing a hospital bag and doing some pre-planning for their hospital stay. I want to address 10 tips that a new FATHER should be thinking about before that inevitable water breaking dash-to-the-hospital experience.

03/02/10 Homecoming, Gifts for Momma

March 4, 2010

Momma with Us Three Kids
Well as great as Grapevine Baylor is, it is time for me to see with my own eyes the homestead. So today is moving day. We had a lot of stuff to pack and load into the van for home. Here is a picture of momma with us three kids. The above pic is first one where the kids “officially” out number the parents. *hehe* Once we got home, Daddy and us kids had a few homecoming gifts for Momma. (see below) Momma collects the Willow Tree figurines, so we added to her collection appropriately.

03/01/10 Gifts for My Brother & Sister

March 1, 2010

My daddy is a great salesman. Even from the womb, I’ve listen to him “Win Friends and Influence People.” His business mantra is “show kindness, respect and favor to everyone because you never know who is watching, buying or will help you in the future.” Taking a play from his playbook, I decided to get a few gifts for my older brother, Zachary and my young sister, Caitlyn. After all, they will be driving sooner than I will. I’ll need a lift to Apple store or some Google credits in my future communicator.
